On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the prestigious setting of Aula Volta, final diplomas were awarded to the 121 students who successfully passed the final examination of the University of Pavia’s Foundation Year Program, now in its seventh edition for the 2024/25 academic year.

The Foundation Year is a preparatory program designed to support international students in their transition to the Italian university system, offering Italian language courses and academic instruction in a variety of disciplines. This year’s top sending nationalities were: Russia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Türkiye, Ukraine

The closing ceremony was an opportunity to look back on the students’ year at the University of Pavia through a nostalgic video that revisited some of the most meaningful moments spent in class and during various outings

The Rector’s Delegate, Professor Matteo Alvaro, congratulated the students, describing them as “a true family of global citizens.”

The course director, Professor Ilaria Fiorentini, shared a quote from an article by Silvia Dal Negro and Gabriele Iannaccaro titled “Here We All Speak the Same, but Differently”, which she reinterpreted with a personal touch: “Here we all speak differently, but the same.”

To date, 50 students have already chosen to continue their academic journey by enrolling in a degree program at the University of Pavia for the upcoming academic year — a testament to the success of the program and the trust placed in the institution.

A heartfelt thank-you was extended to the entire staff, faculty, and tutors who made this important educational experience possible.

The event concluded with warm applause, a group photo, and renewed hope for the graduates’ futures, as they set off on new academic and professional paths, carrying with them the knowledge and values acquired during their Foundation Year in Pavia.
